Beyond a short holiday

Make the ordinary week work first.

A long stay asks different questions from a two-week trip. You need somewhere to work or rest comfortably, a budget that includes ordinary expenses, and a clear understanding of the permission relevant to your activities. Buenos Aires can offer a city routine; a smaller destination may put the outdoors closer but make transport and service access more important. Start with the purpose and length of the stay before committing to accommodation. Then test the practical details of a normal weekday, including calls, groceries, laundry and the journey home after dinner.

  1. 01
    Define the activity

Tourism, services performed remotely for clients abroad, local employment and study are different circumstances. Describe what you intend to do accurately when checking the official route.

  2. 02
    Set a provisional horizon

Separate the length you would like from the period actually authorized. Keep major commitments adjustable while you confirm the relevant permission and application process.

  3. 03
    Choose a liveable base

Look beyond the photographs of the apartment. Check the work area, noise, heating or cooling, internet evidence, transport and the services you will use every week.

Permission follows purpose

Use the official category for your circumstances.

Check the immigration route before treating a long accommodation booking as a settled plan. Migraciones describes tourist permission as up to three months, with a possible extension for a similar period. Its digital-nomad route is a separate transitory category for eligible visa-exempt nationals providing remote services to people or organizations abroad; the official service page describes up to 180 days, extendable. These are categories and application routes, not automatic approval for every traveller. Use the official residence directory when another purpose or personal circumstance applies.

  1. 01
    A longer holiday

Read the tourist-extension procedure and confirm the deadline applicable to your existing admission. An extension should be planned while that permission remains valid.

  2. 02
    Remote services for clients abroad

Use the current digital-nomad application page to check eligibility and the evidence requested. It lists identity, address, regular entry and proof of the activity, among other requirements. Confirm the application channel with Migraciones.

  3. 03
    A different basis for staying

Local employment, study, family circumstances or another residence basis need their own official checks. A travel guide cannot decide which category applies to an individual case.

Your working base

Verify the room you will actually use.

Compare the working base as well as the destination. In Buenos Aires, choose one neighbourhood and check the actual block and transport you will use. In Bariloche, distinguish central accommodation from the western lakeside corridor: an attractive property beside the lake may require another connection for errands, meals and outing departures. Neither city's name establishes the quality of a particular connection. Ask for a recent test at the property, the position of the desk, a comfortable chair and whether calls can be taken behind a door. A shorter initial booking can let you assess that setup before committing to a longer stay.

  1. 01
    Internet and calls

Ask how the connection reaches the exact apartment and whether it is shared, then test it during the hours that overlap with your colleagues. Check call privacy and identify a practical backup workspace. A city-wide reputation or a quoted speed does not establish how your working day will go.

  2. 02
    Daily errands

For a Buenos Aires neighbourhood base, check the walk or transport from the actual block to groceries, laundry and a pharmacy. In Bariloche, compare a central address with the western lakeside corridor and trace those same errands, meals and excursion pickup points. Choose the lakeside setting with its extra connections visible in the daily plan.

  3. 03
    Time away from the desk

Keep nearby city walks, museums and food outings for intervals around work. Reserve regional lake and mountain outings for actual time off, including their outward and return journeys; a scenic destination does not make a working day a free day. Use the six-month Buenos Aires planning guide for a longer city routine.

Budget and continuity

Plan for a month of decisions, not one exchange rate.

Build the budget from the accommodation terms and your likely routine: groceries, meals out, transport, workspace, insurance and trips. Use the payments guide to understand the distinction between cash and card conversions, then compare actual settled amounts in your own records. Keep a reserve for a changed flight or accommodation. Remote income, immigration permission and tax obligations are separate questions; obtain qualified advice for your circumstances rather than inferring one answer from another.

  1. 01
    Recurring payments

Confirm the currency, payment method and dates for rent or workspace. Keep receipts and track what is refundable. A quoted monthly figure may exclude utilities or cleaning.

  2. 02
    Health arrangements

Check how your cover applies to the full stay and any activities you plan. Keep the assistance contact and understand the payment or reimbursement process. Use the health guide for general planning.

  3. 03
    Trips within the stay

Book regional travel around genuine time off and the deadlines you have confirmed. Keep the route manageable: a short flight can still consume much of a working day once transfers are included.

Before committing

Turn a proposed stay into a workable plan.

Keep the important dates and agreements together, then revisit them when your circumstances change.

01

Immigration

Record permission before committing

Create one record of your immigration category, the granted end date and the official procedure for any application you intend to make. The lease end date is a housing commitment, not an immigration deadline.

  • Keep the permission and relevant official instructions together.
  • Set a reminder to obtain advice before that recorded deadline.
02

Accommodation

Get the full housing terms

Put the exact unit, included bills, payment currency, deposit-return conditions and cancellation terms in one written record. Check that the agreement describes the property you will actually occupy.

  • Resolve any charge that is absent from the quoted rent.
  • Save the agreed terms before making the housing payment.
03

Work setup

Test a working day

Test the connection at the property, call privacy and power access during your actual colleague-overlap hours. Identify a backup workspace you could use if that setup fails; no advertised speed can promise the result of every call.

  • Run through a normal work session before an important meeting depends on it.
  • Check the backup workspace's current access arrangements directly.
04

Money

Separate monthly costs from reserves

Keep rent, bills, workspace and ordinary expenses in a monthly budget, with a separate reserve for changed flights or accommodation. Use the payments guide when comparing currencies and payment methods.

  • Record the actual settled costs and their payment dates.
  • Keep the contingency reserve visible instead of counting it as available monthly spending.
05

Administration

Reserve administration time

List the documents requested by the authority handling your actual case, then allow time for its appointments and business hours. Retain the application acknowledgment separately from the final decision.

  • Use that authority's current instructions to identify what needs gathering.
  • Save correspondence and the decision without treating a submission receipt as approval.
06

Departure

Reconcile the departure dates

Place the permission end date, housing checkout and flight date together, then check the final transfer. Resolve any mismatch before a changed booking becomes a commitment.

  • Include time for checkout and the journey to the correct airport or terminal.
  • If the plan would exceed the permission held, obtain official guidance before adding nights.
